Author’s Preface

This book will teach you about spiritual gifts and how to be content with your God-given gifts. In order to use our God-given gifts effectively, we must realize that our abilities come from God and understand who we are in the Lord. We need to dedicate our gifts to God’s service and not keep anything back from the work of God. In effect, we need to off-load all that God has deposited in us, for His glory. These gifts do not belong to us; they belong to the Lord. Apostle Paul says in 1 Corinthians 14:1, “Follow the way of love and eagerly desire spiritual gifts, especially the gift of prophecy.” Love should be the motivating factor in using our gifts for the work of God; and not our self-gain. The Lord has also given us ministry gifts which are to be used for His service.

All these gifts are unique to each individual and there should be no competition, as this is not of God. We need to be content with the gifts God has given us and use them for His glory. As we do this, we will be in the will and purposes of God for our life; and the Body of Christ will be edified. We should never abuse the gifts we have been given and we should not exercise them to make ourselves superior to others. We must always remember that love should be our greatest aim. We should guard against desiring and using spiritual gifts for the wrong motives. Sometimes, believers fail to use their gifts or they use them selfishly and without love. As you read this book, I pray that you will appreciate all the gifts the Lord has given you and use them for His glory. AMEN
